The Itinerary Day by Day

Day 1: Arrival

Pick up from the international airport of Dar Es Salaam by your driver/guide and our representative. Transfer to Moevenpick Royal Palms for your overnight. This private tour is completely customizable – you can change the duration, where you visit and the hotels you stay in – just let us know what you’d like to change when you get in touch with us.

Day 2: Dar Es Salaam – Selous

Pick up from the hotel after breakfast, for a drive to Selous lasting some 5-7 hours. Arrive in the afternoon for a meeting with lodge manager to discuss your safari program. You will then go for an afternoon game drive or a walking tour in Selous.
Dinner and overnight at Rufiji River Camp.

Day 3: Selous

A full day of game drives at Selous Game Reserve. Explore the savannah, woodland, and grassland of this vast reserve, spotting elephant, buffalo, rhino and more. Take a boat trip on the fantastic Rufiji River, looking for crocodiles and hippo along the way. Dinner and overnight at Rufiji River Camp.

Day 4: Northern Selous

Proceed to Northern Selous for further safari activities. Try to spot wildebeest, eland, giraffe, waterbuck, zebra, elephant, buffalo, hippo, leopard and lion. Take a further boating safari. Dinner and overnight at Sable Mountain Lodge. Dining and drinking at your specially selected accommodation will be fresh, varied, satisfying, and of course delicious. Vuma Hills prepares dishes using fresh produce from the camp’s own highland farm. Sable Mountain Lodge has several eating and drinking options, including the delightful treehouse overlooking a watering hole, where various animals can be spotted drinking. Day 5: Northern Selous

Explore Northern Selous further. This national park boasts the world’s largest number of big game, as well as over 350 species of bird. Go for a walking safari in the afternoon. Dinner and overnight at Sable Mountain Lodge. Dining and drinking at your specially selected accommodation will be fresh, varied, satisfying and of course delicious. Vuma Hills prepares dishes using fresh produce from the camp’s own highland farm. Sable Mountain Lodge has several eating and drinking options, including the delightful tree-house overlooking a watering hole, where various animals can be spotted drinking. Day 6: Mikumi

Depart for Mikumi National Park after breakfast. Enjoy the rich variety of bird species and the host of wild creatures you can spot here (zebra, lion, wild dogs, jackals, hartebeest, elephant, giraffe plus more). Dinner and overnight at Vuma Hills Tented Camp.

Day 7: Mikumi

A full day of game driving and safari activities in Mikumi. Explore this wonderful National Park further, both from your safari vehicle and on an exciting walking safari. Dinner and overnight at Vuma Hills Tented Camp. Dining and drinking at your specially selected accommodation will be fresh, varied, satisfying and of course delicious. Vuma Hills prepares dishes using fresh produce from the camp’s own highland farm. Sable Mountain Lodge has several eating and drinking options, including the delightful treehouse overlooking a watering hole, where various animals can be spotted drinking. Day 8: Udzungwa Mountains

Depart Mikumi for afternoon arrival at Udzungwa Mountains National Park. Dinner and overnight at Udzungwa Forest Lodge. At Udzugwa Mountain National Park, you will take a half-day of hiking and bird-watching through pristine rainforest and amongst waterfalls. Upon reaching the Sanje waterfalls, your reward will be the spectacular views of the Kilombero Valley below.

Day 9: Ruaha

Depart for Ruaha National Park after breakfast. This is the second largest national park in Tanzania, as well as being the second largest elephant sanctuary. Dinner and overnight at Ruaha River Lodge. Your last few days on safari will be spent at Ruaha National Park. During your three full days of safari activity, you will marvel at the views of the Great Ruaha River, delight at the sight of crocodiles and hippo, spot elephant, various antelopes and a whole host of bird species, and try to take in the sheer size of this wild and wonderful corner of the earth.

Day 10: Ruaha

Further opportunity to explore Ruaha National Park. The Great Ruaha River flowing along the eastern border of the park creates spectacular gorges and scenery, as well as being home to a large number of hippos and crocodile. Dinner and overnight at Ruaha River Lodge.

Day 11: Ruaha

A further day to explore Ruaha National Park, where you can spot elephant, greater and lesser kudu, and rare roan and sable antelope. There are also over 370 species of bird to be spotted here. Dinner and overnight at Ruaha River Lodge.
Your last few days on safari will be spent at Ruaha National Park. During your three full days of safari activity, you will marvel at the views of the Great Ruaha River, delight at the sight of crocodiles and hippo, spot elephant, various antelopes and a whole host of bird species, and try to take in the sheer size of this wild and wonderful corner of the earth.
